These handy Zipped Pouches are a great way to use up all your leftover fabric strips/scraps from previous projects. It is also a good way to learn the ‘Quilt as you go’ technique where you are attaching the fabric strips to the wadding and quilting all at the same time.
This pattern shows you how to create these pouches (in 3 sizes) with step by step instructions and photos, so would make a great Advanced Beginners’ project. The pouches are completed with double slide zippers so each end can be opened independently. Again, there are detailed step by step instructions (with photos) on how to create the double slide zip using a continuous zip. I highly recommend using the double side basting tape for sewing your zip, instead of using pins – it makes it so much easier.
Once you have mastered the pattern, you can create your own scrappy looking pouch using the QAYG method and NOT sticking to the strips. The kit contains pre-cut fabric strips for the exterior, wadding, lining fabric, zip and zipper pulls to make the medium sized pouch, along with detailed pattern instructions with step by step easy to follow instructions and photos. The pouches are completed with double slide zippers so each end can be opened independently.
