Who doesn’t look forward to Summer Holidays? The plans of taking a holiday by the seaside or somewhere new, or maybe remote … in a caravan.
I look back with fondness to childhood summer holidays where we spent the summer camping by the beach – the best of both – camping in the pine forest in the sand dunes of a lovely sandy beach. We didn’t have beach huts in New Zealand, but I often thought these would make the summer holiday complete. Somewhere to shelter from the hot sun and sand ….
This cushion has simple embroidery which can be enhanced with the simple technique of Inktense painting. There is no need to do the Inktense technique, this design would look stunning in simple Redwork, maybe using a thread colour that compliments your fabric squares. The pattern has easy to follow instructions to take you through this technique. The panels are joined with 2 ½” squares, so is a great way to stash bust.
The cushion back features a button closure and a scrappy 2” square buttonhole band. The cushion is then stitched around the outside to create a mock binded edge.
SIZE – Approximately 18” square
This extensive pattern is supported with full colour line diagrams to make following and reading the pattern straight forward. The templates are full size, so there is no need to enlarge them.
