Workshop & Tutoring Experiences with Nifty Needles

At Nifty Needles, I am passionate about sharing my love of fibre arts. My workshops and tutoring cover a range of crafts, including needlework tutoring, patchwork, sewing, quilting, and crochet courses.

I host these sessions for community groups, craft guilds, church organisations, and schools. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced crafter, you’ll enjoy a relaxed and supportive environment to explore your creativity while mastering traditional and modern techniques.

Each workshop can be tailored to your group’s needs, covering skills like patchwork classes or advanced craft tutoring. I provide detailed handouts and patterns to ensure participants can create beautiful pieces guided by my original designs. Alongside this, I offer demonstrations and bring a pop-up shop featuring samples, patterns, and supplies to make it easy for participants to access high-quality materials and tools.

I also share my design journey, showcase my work, and provide a close-up look at my unique creations. While based in Northern Ireland, I am available to travel throughout Ireland and to England, Scotland, and Wales, time permitting.

  • Inktense colouring workshop for fabric art techniques

    Inktense Colouring

The latest trend now is to colour your fabric using Inktense pencils and then embroidering the design to bring it to life. If you enjoy colouring in, then you will love this craft. This technique is so simple to master (& very relaxing/mindful) and you do not have to be an artist to create masterpieces.

In this workshop, you will learn the tips and methods used to colour your designs and then finish off with simple embroidery stitches used in Redwork Needlework. The workshop design can be customised to certain times of the year/season.

  • Learn to crochet course for beginners in Northern Ireland

Learn to Crochet course (8 weeks)

This 8wk course is for those who have never crocheted before or those who need to brush up on forgotten skills. You will learn basic techniques on working in rows & rounds, the do’s and don’ts for both methods, plus how to confidently read a pattern, the correct way to join yarns and change colours, how to professionally finish, block and sew your crochet items. During the 8 weeks you will receive comprehensive handouts of everything we cover as well as the patterns that we will be working on so you can continue well after the course has been completed.

Over the 8 weeks you will be working on making a sampler blanket that will be treasured for many years from the squares that you will be crocheting during the course. A special blanket to show your journey of learning to crochet.

  • Needlework tutoring workshop in Northern Ireland

Learn Needlework (1 day workshop or weekly course)

Have you always wanted to learn Needlework or maybe just brush up on long forgotten embroidery stitches? Needlework has been created for hundreds of years to embellish clothing or household linens, or simply as decorative pieces. It is a way to create ‘pictures’ with a needle and thread. As well as looking decorative, needlework is a brilliant way to relax and destress.

I teach a wide range of traditional Needlework from Redwork, Embroidery, Whitework, Blackwork, Slow Stitching or Candlewicking which can range from a one Day workshop to a series of weekly classes over a number of weeks.
