As quilters/sewers, you probably have loads of small scraps that you just don’t know what to do with. We are all hesitate to throw any fabric scraps away (especially in today’s financial climate) even though it may be too small to actually do anything with.
This is where the ‘Crumb’ Fabric technique comes into its own. With this technique, you can create amazing, colourful, and unique pieces of fabric that can be used to make quilts, bags, cushions, table runners and so much more. Basically it is all about sewing those tiny fabric scraps together to create a larger piece of fabric that you can use in a new project.
It involves taking those small fabric pieces/strips and sewing them together to form a piece of fabric that you can reuse.
The kit contains a bag of ‘crumbs’, wadding, lining fabric, zip and zipper pulls to make the medium sized pouch, along with detailed tutorial on ‘how to’ create your very own ‘crumb’ fabric with step by step easy to follow instructions and photos. The pouches are completed with double slide zippers so each end can be opened independently. Again, there are detailed step by step instructions (with photos) on how to create the double slide zip using a continuous zip. I highly recommend using the double side basting tape for sewing your zip, instead of using pins – it makes it so much easier.
Each bag of crumbs contains a random selection of fabric colours. There is also a detailed pattern for zipped pouches (in 3 sizes) so you can continue to create more pouches from your crumb fabric.
