Who doesn’t look forward to Summer Holidays? The plans of being able to just relax reading a book, or just indulging in our favorite summer activities.
I look back with fondness to childhood summers where we used to spend as much time as possible relaxing at the beach. We were fortunate enough to live close to the seaside, rivers and forests where we could go out for the day with a picnic and partake in fishing off the wharf or just relaxing, enjoying the hot long summer months in New Zealand.
This cushion has simple embroidery which can be enhanced with the simple technique of Inktense painting. There is no need to do the Inktense technique, this design would look stunning in simple Redwork, maybe using a thread colour that compliments your fabric squares. The pattern has easy to follow instructions to take you through this technique. The panels are joined with 2 ½” squares, so is a great way to stash bust.
The cushion back features a button closure and a scrappy 2” square buttonhole band. The cushion is then stitched around the outside to create a mock binded edge.
SIZE – Approximately 18” square
