This design is an alternative to a traditional eight-point star block – featuring sashing crossing through the middle. The pattern will take you through simple and quick techniques to make the ‘building blocks’ of the stars. It is not suitable for a complete beginner but is a great way to progress your patchwork skills and learn how to incorporate sashing into your patchwork. Once you are confident with the cutting and piecing process of this block, this pattern would be a great way to use up smaller pieces of fabric to produce different coloured stars.
The Star Flower blocks in this table topper are smaller than the blocks used in the cushion and table runner to create a slightly delicate overall appearance.
Gather up some lovely coordinating Christmas fabric to create a festive table topper to adorn your table at Christmas or some bright colours for the Spring/summer. The choices are endless.
