Longarm Quilting Services

Our latest adventure is Longarm Quilting. We recently purchased a Handi Quilter Moxie with a 10FT Loft Frame, which means we are able to accommodate quilts up to 105” wide and basically any length.

The Moxie is hand guided (not computerised), either using creating free styled freemotion from the front of the machine or from the back of the machine following Pantograph patterns or Groovy boards to create stunning all-over or Edge to Edge quilting giving a lovely soft finish that drapes well without making your quilt feel rigid.

We can also offer a bespoke custom quilting service along with a basting service. More in-depth detail on the services we can offer (& pricing) is available on the photo link below. Full custom work will include design ideas sent over for your consideration and approval prior to actual longarm quilting.

The three layers of the quilt – the pieced top, the wadding and the backing fabric are loaded onto the machine separately, so there is NO need for tedious basting prior to quilting.

When you have spent a lot of time choosing the quilt pattern and fabrics, enjoying the process and time involved in piecing the quilt top together, then the quilting that finishes your quilt is deserving of a similiar process.

At the initial consultation in the quilting process, we can discuss all the options available. For more on how I work with customers, please click on the photo – Our Consultation/Booking Process.

The cost of the service (whichever one you choose) includes the thread for quilting. The thread we use is Glide, which is a trilobal polyester thread. The usual weight we use for general quilting is 40wt and there is a wide selection of colours available, which we are constantly expanding. We can also use a 60wt thread for micro quilting.

We are happy enough for you to provide your own wadding or backing fabric. If you would prefer, we can provide wadding – Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 (90” wide) as well as a polyester Thermore wadding for your quilt at an additional.

Before you bring in your quilt for quilting, please read ‘How to prepare your quilt for Longarm Quilting’ Page via the photo link below. Reading this page will give you an idea of what is required for a quilt to be finished on the longarm, along with a checklist for what you need to do prior to bringing the quilt in. Doing this checklist will ensure you will keep to your budget. We can offer a range of extra services such as joining a backing fabric, pressing the quilt top and backing fabric, making binding or unpicking an already basted quilt. These services will incur an additional cost. Further pricing details are found on the ‘Price List’ page via the photo link below.

Quilts are very precious to their maker, so we offer a service where the customer is consulted every step of the way. We feel honoured that I have been chosen to finish the quilt and we want a happy customer with a quilt they love. We are delighted to also offer a Customer Loyalty Discount on every fifth quilt you leave with us to be quilted.
