Autumn is a lovely time of the year, when the evenings start to draw in with the promise of summer coming to a close. The time when the leaves of the trees start to change colour, from summer greens to wonderful rich colours of a golden autumn…. The time when everyone starts to gather in the harvest of the berries, fruit/vegetables, all of nature’s bounties. The fun of gathering the produce from the hedgerows to make lovely sloe or blackberry gin, rosehip syrup in the promise of enjoying a drink at Christmas ….
These cushions have simple embroidery which can be enhanced with the simple technique of Inktense painting. There is no need to do the Inktense technique, this design would look stunning in simple Redwork, maybe using a thread colour that compliments your fabric squares. The pattern has easy to follow instructions to take you through this technique. The panels are joined with 2 ½” squares, so is a great way to stash bust.
The cushion back features a button closure and a scrappy 2” square buttonhole band. The cushion is then stitched around the outside to create a mock binded edge.
SIZE – Approximately 18” square
