Do you do beading? …. Or even make jewelry? …. Maybe Needleturn Applique …. Or English Paper Piecing? …..
A while back I was asked to design a project folder for the National Beading Guild where they could have a folded folder that would contain all the bits for their current beading project. They had certain requirements – two spacious pockets – one clear plastic so you can see the contents and the other pocket features fabric to hold other essential equipment that was needed while working on current beading projects. A specialised beading mat where their beads would sit safe while working without the chance of them rolling everywhere. and a cord to hold their reels of beading thread so they are on hand while working. The folder also needed to have a generous area to work on when opened flat and yet, when folded, it couldn’t be bulky or too large.
Quite a mission, but I love challenges and really did enjoy designing, writing the pattern, and making up the sample. I must admit – I did wonder if I would ever use it since it was designed for beading projects. But it has become one of my most used and useful project folders. I use it when making the beaded needlework notions and also when preparing my Needleturn applique pieces. It would also make a brilliant project bag for English Paper Piecing. This folder is NOT limited to beading projects!
This folder will quickly become your favourite portable workspace when you are out and about and will safely hold everything you will need for your current project. So, the really hard question is …. How many Beading folders will you own???
